Islam is a monotheistic religion that originated in the Arabian Peninsula in the 7th century CE. It is based on the teachings of the Prophet Muhammad, who is considered the final prophet in Islam. The central religious text in Islam is the Quran, believed to be the literal word of God as revealed to Muhammad over a period of 23 years. The Quran contains teachings on a wide range of topics, including ethics, morality, law, spirituality, and history. It is divided into chapters, or surahs, which are recited in daily prayers and in other religious rituals. Muslims believe that the Quran is the ultimate source of guidance and that it provides a complete code of conduct for all aspects of life. It has been translated into many languages and is widely read and studied by Muslims and non-Muslims alike. The Quran is a central element of Islamic faith and has been a driving force behind the spread of Islam throughout the world.
